FORT WAYNE, Ind. (NBC33) – It has been two months since HealthCare.gov was unveiled, and the Obama administration says while the site is working better and faster than ever, it is still not perfect.
Riddled with problems in its initial roll-out, the site boasts fixes to a majority of its glitches including crashes after logging in. One area of concern that does not appear to have been addressed however, are flaws in the site’s security.
Many fear that uploading private or personal information into the site's database may leave them vulnerable.
"User experience is one way you can evaluate the performance of a site. The security of the site is another,” says Derek Pillie, the Director of Vertical Programming at Cirrus ABS. “It seems like most of the improvements they've announced that they're talking about deal with the user experience and not the security. It's tough because the security thing is being used as a political football to some degree (by) people who are critical of the policy, why the site needs to be there. They're using that as a tool to criticize."
Tech experts recommend limiting the use of personal information until a third-party verification is issued saying the security problems have been resolved.
Site officials are also asking users to avoid using the site during peak hours to avoid over-crowding crashes.
