Kokomo Lifts State Of Emergency, Prohibits Travel Through Damaged Areas

KOKOMO, Ind. (21Alive) -- A tornado, reported in Kokomo, left many buildings severely damaged.

There were reports of downed power lines and trees and after the storm hit Sunday night, the city issued a State of Emergency. As of 6 a.m. Monday, the city had lifted the State of Emergency.

Residents are prohibited from unnecessary travel through the storm damaged areas of the city. Damage assessment teams, utility workers and cleanup crews need access to the roadways leading to and from the storm damaged areas.

City officials urge motorists and pedestrians to travel with caution as City crews continue removing debris from streets and sidewalks.

Only minor injuries were reported in that area.
