FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) -- Colleagues said so long to a giant in the steel industry.

More than 300 people from all over the world gathered at the Grand Wayne Center to honor Keith Busse, who's retiring as long time head of Steel Dynamics Corporation.

The 69 year old spoke at the State Legislature last Friday, in favor of a Right to Work bill.

Busse believes, that in the steel business the best paying and safest workplaces have been non-union.

Busse says, "It's just the opposite of what's being preached. But I think, I think right to work would be a real boon to the State of Indiana. If we're the only state to adopt that as this economy recovers, we'll be rewarded for that."

Busse maintains a number of business and charitable interests and will serve as chairman of the board for SDI moving forward.
