January Trial Set For Dr. Ulrich Klopfer

CROWN POINT, Ind. (21Alive) - A trial date has been set for an Indiana abortion doctor accused of failing to report an abortion performed on a 13-year-old girl.

Dr. Ulrich Klopfer was in Lake County court Tuesday, and learned of his Jan. 26 trial on a charge of failing to file a public report.

In October of 2013, Indiana Right To Life filed hundreds of complaints against Ulrich with the Indiana Attorney General's Office. Among the claims, Indiana Right To Life says Klopfer violated state law by not reporting an abortion on a 13-year-old Fort Wayne girl.

Klopfer has previously denied the claims to 21Alive, and said at the time his clinics have consistently passed state inspection in more than 40 years of practice.

Klopfer was performing abortions in Fort Wayne, South Bend and Gary, but recently stopped doing them in Fort Wayne after a back-up physician left the practice.
