Indy H.S. Student Faces Expulsion After Bringing Handgun To School

December 18, 2013 Updated Dec 18, 2013 at 4:03 PM EDT

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) -- Two Ben Davis High School students were removed from school Wednesday after an argument in a hallway. One of those students now faces expulsion after school administrators found a handgun in the student's backpack.

The students had to be separated by a teacher and were sent to the dean's office. After the gun was found, that student was arrested.

School administrators say the incident, which occurred around 9:00 am, did not disrupt the school day. They say security cameras helped in the investigation, and staff followed all protocols.

Final exams will take place as scheduled, and parents are being notified about what happened.
