INDIANA (www.incnow.tv) – An Indiana woman and her mother are in Africa looking for her father, an American missionary, whose plane vanished during a ferry flight over Africa April 7th.
Jerry Krause had been a member of the Mission Aviation Fellowship in Mali, Africa but when the group pulled out of the area, Jerry stayed behind with the Sahel Aviation to continue serving there.
After his plane went missing, his daughter, Jessica, a college student in Indiana, created the website findjerry.com to document the search for her father and keep the public updated on the status. When she spoke with 21Alive, she said her mother and herself were in Mali, Africa continuing to search for her father.
She is searching for prayers and community support and her most recent post on Tuesday, is asking the public to write their senators. She provides a letter prewritten that can be copied to the senators asking them to help.
According to those letters, Jerry’s aircraft is believed to have crashed into a body of water with a depth of 12,000 feet and that the two beacons that give off signals from the aircraft will continue to give off signals until May 7th. In order to detect these signals at that depth, the Navy would need an aircraft with special capabilities. There is such an aircraft, a P3 Orion, located in Rota, Spain and her request of senators is that they help put pressure on the Department of Defense (Security Defense and Navy) to send that aircraft to Mali so they can attempt to locate Jerry’s aircraft.
She lists the information for the senators of Indiana and Minnesota, since her family is in Indiana and her father is from Minnesota. Jessica states that she knows Senator Joe Donnelly and Senator Amy Klobuchar are aware of the situation.
Jessica’s post states “we have been informed that handwritten letters get more attention than emails and phone calls, whether it be snail mail or fax.”
She also asks that “if you have ANY contacts in Sao Tome that you contact us through private message or email at email@example.com.”
