Fort Wayne, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- It's official, the Undersecretary for the Department of Agriculture says the farm fields in our area are the worst he's ever seen.

Michael Scuse toured a family farm in Fort Wayne Wednesday morning and explained why the corn crops are failing.

He says the devastating drought means the corn is too far gone even if we get rain, it's too little, too late.

He's hoping the farm bills in the Senate and the House will re-instate disaster provisions for farmers, to help them in times like this.

He says there is some hope for soybean crops if we get rain in the next week or so.
