FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Every current Fort Wayne City Council member who ran for re-election won their primary.
The following six races were contested in Tuesday's primary election.
Republican Fort Wayne City Council At-Large: The winners were Incumbent Marty Bender, John Crawford and Tom Freistroffer.
Democratic Fort Wayne City Council At-Large: The winners were Incumbent John Shoaff, Tom Schrader and Gordon Anthony.
Republican Fort Wayne City Council District 1: The winner was Incumbent Tom Smith.
Republican Fort Wayne City Council District 2: The winner was Russ Jehl.
Democratic Fort Wayne City Council District 5: The winner was Geoff Paddock.
Democratic Fort Wayne City Council District 6: The winner was Incumbent Glynn Hines.
Meanwhile, Indiana's NewsCenter interviewed some of the winners of the closest Fort Wayne City Council races.
"I think you need somebody on Council that's got some grey hair that understands the history of Fort Wayne and also has a vision for the future," said Fort Wayne City Council At-Large Nominee Democrat Gordon Anthony.
"I'm a business person," said Fort Wayne City Council At-Large Nominee Republican Tom Freistroffer.
"I think you need a business mind on the Council. I've kinda run from angles of business. I've got a Master's Degree in Education so I've run from education," explained Freistroffer.
"I'm showing that I will be accountable. That I will be, close to the voters and listen to them and that's what I did. I just went to 3,000 doors and asked people what they were concerned about," said Fort Wayne City Council 2nd District Republican Nominee Russ Jehl.
"Work with the Mayor, to try and keep taxes down and to keep good services going and a good strong surplus. We wanna continue on the accomplishments of Mayor Henry," said Fort Wayne City Council 5th District Nominee Democrat Geoff Paddock.
Meanwhile, it was surprising to see Former Republican City Council John Crawford finish 3rd in the Republican At-Large contest.
Marty Bender was 1st.
Tom Freistroffer finished 2nd.
It was equally surprising to see Geoff Paddock beat Former Allen County Councilwoman Maye Johnson by more than 30%.
Both Democrats and Republicans rallied Tuesday night off Ludwig Road.
Democrats rallied at the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Hall.
Republicans rallied at Ceruti's.
