HENDRICKS CO., In. (www.incnow.tv) --- A massive and perhaps unprecedented pile-up in Hendricks County has closed I-70 west of Indianapolis in both directions.
The initial accident happened at mile marker 59, near the Plainfield exit. Initial estimates are that forty vehicles are involved.
The interstate will be closed for at least six hours. The accident happened shortly before one today when snow squalls created slick roads and white-out conditions in the area.
21Alive Chief meteorologist Curtis Smith - who has more about the squall-like snow conditions on 21Alive at 5, says conditions were ripe during the day in several parts of the state for similar conditions. .
