FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Fort Wayne fire crews battled both fire and ice late Sunday night. They were called to the 4200 Block of Beaver Ave. just before 11:30p.m. on reports of a structure fire.

When they arrived, there was smoke coming from the basement of the home. Investigators determined that's where the fire was based. Officers found a large hole in the floor above the basement.

Initial reports indicate water was tough to come by. Workers reported hydrants near the home were frozen, and unusable. Crews eventually found a servicable water source, and were able to put the blaze under control in just under an hour.

No injuries were reported, and the cause remains under investigation. Officials believe the home was vacant.
