FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Indiana's NewsCenter hit the streets of Fort Wayne Sunday to get your reaction to Governor Daniels' decision not to run for president in 2012.

"I'm shocked. I think speculation was that he was gonna run," said Muncie Resident Angela Hayden.

Hayden was in Fort Wayne Sunday visiting the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo with her family.

"I guess I just assumed that he was gonna run. So actually I'm kinda shocked that he decided not too," said Hayden.

Some people saw it on the internet or television Sunday morning, others heard about it on the radio.

Politically minded Hoosiers told Indiana's NewsCenter that Indiana Republican Governor Mitch Daniels' decision not to run for President in 2012, is a heavy blow to our state.

"I think it's unfortunate Indiana won't get the exposure of having a Hoosier as President," said Fort Wayne Resident Brian White.

"Personally, it's a little too early for me to think about elections next time anyway. Let's get through the city elections first," continued White.

Others said Governor Daniels made the right decision.

"I was a little surprised he was thinking about running. But I'm not surprised he said he wasn't going to be a candidate 'cause I didn't think he had enough experience," said Fort Wayne Resident Greg White.

"I don't know if I wanted him to but I did vote for him for Governor. But I don't know if I would necessarily want him to run for president," said Hayden.

"I think he's done a decent job for Indiana but I don't know that I would want him to run the country," explained Hayden.

However, staunch supporters said Daniels' leadership is needed in Washington D.C.

"Disappointment to be honest. I'm looking for somebody who's gonna be able to keep us in the green," said Fort Wayne Resident Gary Rowland.

"I would like to see that fiscal conservatism back in the White House again," continued Rowland.
