Helping Juvenile Offenders Become Productive Members Of Society (VIDEO)

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- The goal of the Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative, supported by Allen County Superior Court Judge Dan Heath, is to help juvenile offenders become productive members of society.

The program is tailor made for low risk youth, offering them an alternative to detention centers. Wednesday afternoon, Judge Heath signed a letter of interest, the first step needed to bring the program to Allen County.

He calls is a win-win situation all around. Not only do juvenile offenders have an opportunity to rehabilitate, it also saves tax payers money.

Heath says the county's current program, the detention alternative program, is a good one but the one he hopes to implement is much better at keeping detention population under control.
