FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) -- The search for the truth. A group of local community members organized an action team to gather all of the facts on the scheduled closing of Paul Harding High School, next year.
Deemed the Indiana school turn around team, their goal is to ensure that East Allen County school leaders have students' best interests at heart.
Group leaders say, right now, that's not the case. They say if the district were following the President's Race To The Top program, the lowest achieving schools like Harding, would receive support to improve their scores instead of an order to close.
Rev. Dr. Saharra Bledsoe of the Community School Turnaround Action Team says, “We're asking the community to come together because now is the time to unify our voices as one and we must stand tall to make sure that our children receive quality education beginning with turning around Paul Harding High School.”
Bledsoe says the group will continue to investigate the closing and take her concerns to district leaders.
