INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (21Alive) -- There will be two public hearings this week to discuss Governor Mike Pence's Healthy Indiana expansion plan.
HIP 2.0 aims to use medicaid funds to extend private healthcare benefits to those who can't afford health insurance. The Healthy Indiana Plan was created to gain a waiver for medicaid expansion, that was offered as part of the Affordable Care Act. To gain a waiver, states have to offer their own plan to extend coverage to low-income individuals. If not, they have to expand their medicaid program.
The first public hearing will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. in Conference Center Room B at the Indiana Government Center South. Another hearing will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. in Room 156-B at the Statehouse.
