FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Parents and children in the Fort Wayne school district will take one of many big back-to-school steps today.

FWCS schools registration gets underway at all 49 elementary, middle and high schools in the city. The process runs from 8 A.M. to 1 P.M.

Registration will also be held on Monday from Noon to 7 P.M.

Parents should be sure to bring necessary contact information. Officals say parents new to the district should also have their children's vaccination records, birth certificates, Social Security cards and proof of residency.

But while registration is a sign the school's just around the corner, children still have a couple more weeks to enjoy their summer vacation.

The new school year doesn't start until Monday, August 23.
