FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - The national spotlight is on Sycamore Hills this week as the course prepares to host its first official PGA Tour event.

During all four days of the Web.com Hotel Fitness Championship the Golf Channel will be broadcasting live across the country. And crews are already in town preparing.

"The Web.com Tour is a fabulous way to introduce Fort Wayne to the world basically through the Golf Channel," said Pete Esposito, Director of Tournaments, Golf Channel.

It may be exciting, but capturing every shot is anything but easy. Crews are setting up 16 cameras. Several of them will be secured in towers, and a few will roam the course. Then there's 50-60 thousand feet of cable crews are running throughout the course. The cables are what will connect everything with the control room.

"You know you're trying to cover 18 holes of golf as opposed to a baseball game or a football game where there's you know one ball in play, one court. A golf course, as I said, covers 18 holes of golf so it's a challenge to set up for TV," said Esposito.

Since this event is a first for Fort Wayne it's also a first for the Golf Channel. The crews have never set up for a live broadcast at Sycamore before, but for some they say that's what makes this week so exciting.

"When you go to Augusta National every year, it's holy ground of golf but you know what it is. I mean here, this is exciting this week because we've, nobody has seen this course, the players haven't, we haven't so there's a curiosity factor that makes it intriguing to us," said Randy Koury, Camera Operator, Golf Channel.

Fort Wayne may be new to the game but the Golf Channel will make sure they're prepared to return to the Summit City.

"You know obviously we'll see after this year, we'll take a look at it and see how it looked, we'll tweak it," said Esposito.

People around the nation and internationally will be able to tune into the Golf Channel every day of the tournament. Their coverage beings live from Sycamore Hills Golf Club Thursday on the Golf Channel at 3 p.m. EST.
