FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - There will be a couple ways for you to safely throw away old or expired prescription medications in Fort Wayne this weekend.

Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller will join State Police Troopers for a news conference this morning to announce details of the first National Drug Take Back Day. The event will be held nationally and statewide tomorrow.

Officials say they will collect used drugs and destroy them in an effort to highlight a growing trend of prescription drug abuse, especially by teens.

Medications will also be collected throughout Fort Wayne today as part of an effort by Triad of Allen County.

Nine Walgreen's stores will take those drugs from 9AM until 1PM. Those stores are located at:

- Clinton St. & St. Joe Ctr. Road
- W. Jefferson Blvd. & Getz Rd.
- Bluffton Rd. & Lower Huntington Rd.
- Chapel Ridge at 10170 Maysville Rd.
- E Paulding Rd. & S. Anthony Blvd.
- Cook & Lima Roads
- Dupont & Tonkel Roads
- Lincoln Highway W. at Brookwood in New Haven
