FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - With gas prices jumping to $4.17 or more, stretching your money has become a priority for most of us.

Indiana's NewsCenter can help you do just that --- by letting you find the cheapest gas right here on www.incnow.tv before you head out in your car or truck burning up more gas to find the best buy.

Meanwhile, Indiana Attorney General’s Office wants to know why gasoline prices are so high in the Hoosier state and has opened an inquiry into the matter.

The inquiry means that gas stations will have to provide documentation, including logs of their prices, suppliers and terminals where they received fuel to justify the increase.

Officials with Indiana’s Petroleum Association say the increase is justified since gas stations had been selling gas “below-cost” for about a week.

Indiana House Minority Leader Patrick Bauer is suggesting that the state suspend the state tax on a gallon of gasoline over a three month period.

Bauer says it would save Hoosiers roughly 38-cents a gallon.

House Speaker Brian Bosma dismissed the suggestion saying it is too late in the session to consider the idea.

The top five oil companies are expecting to profit $390 million a day as a result of the higher gas prices.
