WABASH CO., Ind. (21Alive) - Authorities are encouraging hunters to take GPS-enabled mobile devices on their trips in case they are needed to be located.
The recommendation comes after the Indiana DNR and Wabash County Sheriff's Department rescued a lost hunter Monday at Mississinewa Reservoir.
Officials say Jeremy Dunn, 33, of Kokomo, Ind., was hunting around 6 a.m. when he became disorientated in the darkness and unfamiliar area. Dunn called 911 asking for help, and trekked through the thick brush to the edge of the reservoir.
Conservation officers found Dunn later in the day. He was not injured.
Authorities also advise be familiar with surroundings before hunting, also.
