DETROIT (Indiana's NewsCenter) - General Motors will formally start production of its extended-range, battery-driven Volt today at its plants in Michigan.

GM officials say showroom deliveries of the $41,000 electric car are expected to start about a month from now.

Pre-production Volts have been built at the automaker's Detroit plant since late march.

GM will also start installing 350-charging stations at its plants, research centers and office campuses throughout Michigan.
