FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- Allen County Coroners identified the victim from Friday night's shooting as Kyree Deqewane Ellis, 21, of Fort Wayne.
Coroners confirmed his cause of death was the gun shot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide.
At 10:47 p.m. Friday Fort Wayne Communications received a 911 call from a female stating she was on her way to the hospital with a man, Ellis, who had been shot. At the time of her call she was at and Oxford and Hanna Street. Dispatch notified the hospital and officers were sent to meet the woman and Ellis.
Officers arrived at the hospital and waited for Ellis and woman to arrive. Once there, Ellis was found to be in critical condition.
Detectives quickly learned that the woman let a friend and two other men, one being Ellis, borrow her car to run to the store. The men were at Paulding and Lafayette when the occupant(s) of another vehicle shot at them. Ellis was struck and the three men returned to the woman. When she found out Ellis had been shot she drove him to the hospital where he was later declared deceased.
There are no suspects in custody and no arrest has been made at this time.
