Fort Wayne Toddler Dead After Being Run Over By SUV (VIDEO)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – A toddler is dead after being struck by an SUV in the family’s driveway.

Police say the accident happened at 6:47 Saturday night. They responded to the 4100 block of Hiawatha Blvd. on an injury accident.

Police say the family was rearranging vehicles in their driveway, and the toddler, who was outside at the time, was struck by an SUV and pinned underneath. Police say medics were able to free the toddler, and he was determined to be in critical condition. The toddler was then taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say they do not believe alcohol to be a factor. This incident remains under investigation.

The Allen County Coroner found that the cause of death was blunt force trauma and the manner of death as an accident.
