FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.nbc33.com) -- Fort Wayne has really been making a name for itself lately when it comes to state and national conventions and competitions.

This year alone, the Summit City will host over 20 national conventions, tournaments and corporate meetings, along with another 100 state and regional events.

That translates to tens of thousands of visitors coming to Fort Wayne. A big reason for that seems to be the improvements being made to facilities that host these events.

Places like the Grand Wayne Center, Parkview Field and The Embassy downtown as well as the Coliseum, make it more attractive for convention groups to host their events here.

But, according to Visit Fort Wayne, there is still that little extra that we have to offer.

"They really like the fact that Fort Wayne is located in the center of the United States," said Dan O'Connell, Presidents/CEO of Visit Fort Wayne. "They like the fact that our convention package is so high quality as well as having density for the rooms and the performing arts halls. And they really like the Hoosier hospitality. That's one of the things that really works for Fort Wayne is showing our friendliness as we showcase our city to these guests."

And the key that local business owners have grown to understand. It's not just about putting on a pretty face to get these conventions here, they have to go above and beyond to keep them coming back year after year.
