FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Fort Wayne’s only abortion doctor is receiving death threats.

In May, Dr. George Klopfer sued the Fort Wayne-Allen County Health Department because a new ordinance requires him to provide contact information.

According to court documents, Klopfer says this gives health officials unlimited access to patients' medical records, and violates his right to privacy.

This week, Klopfer filed new paperwork about a phone call from a Fort Wayne area caller who found his unlisted number. The caller told Klopher he would "blow his brains out" if he were in front of him.

Klopfer lives in out of state and travels to Fort Wayne to perform abortions.

The Allen County Right to Life organization issued the following statement regarding the threats:

Allen County Right to Life was saddened to learn of the violent threats made against Dr. George Klopfer.

“Violence is never the answer,” Allen County Right to Life Executive Director Cathie Humbarger said. “The comments made by the unidentified individual do not represent the Allen County Right to Life and are not profitable for the right to life movement. We regret that these comments were made and rebuke them 100 percent,” Humbarger said.

We’ll have more on this story tonight on Indiana’s NewsCenter.
