MARION COUNTY, Ind. (21Alive) - Former Marion Fire Chief, Steve Gorrell, pleaded guilty Thursday to multiple theft charges.

Court documents claim the alleged incidents happened between 2006 and 2011 while Gorrell was chief of the city's fire department. He is now retired.

Court documents also claim that Gorrell stole around $11,000 by selling back sick days and vacation days he wasn't entitled to, and by claiming pay adjustments for certifications he did not have.

A sentencing hearing is set for December 17th, 2014. If the deal is accepted, other charges of forgery, official misconduct and corrupt influence would be dismissed.
