FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - A volunteer from the Northeast Indiana Chapter of the American Red Cross is on her way to help storm disaster victims.

Sylvia Christian boarded a plane Thursday morning saying she hasn't even turned on a TV to see the destruction but knows there is a lot of cleaning-up to do.

Red Cross Volunteer Sylvia Christian says, “The biggest thing that is needed to anybody at this time is to just be able to tell their story. To be able to tell somebody what's happening to them. To unload, to put that stuff into words, getting it out of themselves."

Sylvia said she is the only volunteer leaving Thursday but expects many more people from the area to help out.
