FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) Unemployed? Looking for work? Would you accept a job today?

Factory based and industrial jobs are available around Allen County today, but many unemployed Hoosiers aren’t taking advantage. Many of these jobs, provided through placement agencies like Temporary Solutions, Inc., pay the same amount as the government sponsored unemployment benefits.

These jobs range from $9 to $12 an hour and could be the job needed to jump-start a new career. Many of them are part time, but could become full time, full paying jobs with hard work and dedication according Robert E. Callahan, President of Temporary Solutions, Inc.

He worries that because the jobs he helps Hoosiers find pay the same amount as the government check, that too many people are passing up legitimate employment opportunities. He says these are opportunities that need to be taken advantage of now.

Callahan says to get out and look for work now, regardless if you’re on unemployment benefits or not. If you’re on unemployment benefits, don’t wait until you’ve got one month of benefits left with nothing to fall back on. If you find work you can begin to save.

The jobs are out there he says. If you find work in the midst of receiving your benefits, you can still claim those benefits if you fall back in the unemployment line.

He says it’s about giving the good old-fashioned 110 percent and believing that you can move up.
