FORT WAYNE, Indiana (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- The assistant principal of a Fort Wayne Community middle school posted a $10,000 bond Tuesday evening, after being arrested on drug charges.
41-year old Shadwaynn Curry is known as Shadwaynn White in her role as assistant principal at Memorial Park Middle School.
She was being held on $10,000 bond Tuesday on two felony drug counts -- dealing marijuana and possession of cocaine, as well as a class A misdemeanor of possession of paraphernalia.
Fort Wayne narcotics detectives had been working with the Illinois State Police in investigating White's husband, 33-year-old Derek Curry, who was also arrested last night in Illinois. He's charged with felony possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
When officers went to the couple's Millennium Crossing home, they say they found multiple pounds of pot, drug paraphernalia, a large digital scale, cocaine, cash and a loaded gun.
Krista Stockman, Fort Wayne Community Schools Public Information Officer, says White is on paid administrative leave pending the results of the charges.
“She's been suspended with pay, which is our typical procedure with an administrator. She is under contract, and so she is on leave and will remain on leave until this situation is finalized.”
Stockman says White has no completed discipline on file with FWCS. She also says there is no reason to believe, at this time, that White had involved Memorial Park Middle School or involved any students from the school.
“At this point, there's no reason to believe that there was any connection with the school or with students. This appears to be completely outside, in the community.”
White started with FWCS as a substitute in 1993. She became Memorial Park Middle School’s assistant principal in 2006.
