Excise Arrests 18 People At Indianapolis Motor Speedway (VIDEO)

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (21Alive) -- 18 people have been arrested on 20 charges by the Indiana State Excise Police at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The speedway played host to a NASCAR Nationwide race Saturday night, as well as the Brickfest Music Festival. During patrols inside the race day event, excise police made a number of drug and alcohol related arrests.
Charges included:

16 – Illegal Possession or Consumption of Alcohol
1 – Possession of Heroin
1 – Possession of a Controlled Substance
1 – Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor
1 – Possession of False Identification

38-year-old Robert Penrod of Indianapolis was arrested on a possession of heroin charge. A plainclothes officer witnessed Penrod use a rolled up dollar bill to snort heroin in the passenger seat of a vehicle.
