FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Elizabeth Smart was at the Scottish Rite Auditorium Thursday to deliver her powerful presentation, "You Are Not Alone: From Abduction to Empowerment."

On International Women's Day, an occasion dedicated to the strength of women, Smart spoke with Indiana's NewsCenter about her message of hope for other people recovering from traumatic experiences.

The Women’s Bureau and 3 Rivers Federal Credit Union is proudly presenting Elizabeth Smart at the Scottish Rite Auditorium on Thursday, March 8th.

Elizabeth’s triumphant story is one of courage and self-determinism. Her traumatic experience has led Elizabeth to become an advocate for change related to child abduction, recovery programs and National legislation.

Elizabeth was 14-years-old when she was abducted from her Salt Lake City bedroom on June 5, 2002. She was held prisoner for 9 months, only 18 miles from her home, and was threatened by her captors that her and her family would be killed if she tried to escape.
