FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- Wednesday, students across the country participated in national digital learning day. In the East Allen County school district, technology has been embedded in the curriculum.
The students of East Allen County schools are given the opportunity to rent their own iPads. Many teachers use apps like "Near Pod" for interactive lessons, give quizzes and keep kids focused.
"There's a red arrow up in the corner letting me know that this student logged off and I can go over there and tap that student discretely and say, 'Hey, you're not following along in the lesson. I need you to get back on,' and the kids are aware and they say okay and it keeps them on task from there on out," Felicia Johnson, a 7th grade social studies teacher said of app.
At "EACS University" students are using new fitness apps in their physical education classes to track their activity on iPads and compete against other classes.
