WHITLEY COUNTY, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a fatal snowmobile accident that occurred around 1:45 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Justin Hinen, 21, or Columbia City died as the result of a snowmobile accident. According to a report from the Department of Natural Resources, Hinen was driving one of two snowmobiles headed west on CR 200 N just west of CR 150 W, when he intentionally left the roadway and continued across an open field. The snowmobile struck a multi-stranded wire fence that encloses a livestock pasture.

The other driver saw the accident and immediately called 911. Hinen was unconscious and unresponsive when emergency personnel arrived on the scene. CPR was initiated but all life-saving attempts were unsuccessful and Hinen was pronounced dead at the scene.

The report states that the cause of death appears to be blunt force trauma to the neck but an autopsy will determine the exact cause later Wednesday.
