FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Last week, Indiana’s NewsCenter placed to a call to transportation officials about the congestion on Interstate 69 caused by road construction on Dupont Road.
Thanks in part to our call, officials changed the traffic light timing on Dupont in an attempt to clear up congestion on the interstate.
It looks like it's a move that's working.
It is still early, but officials say traffic flow has improved, though they say there are some lesser traffic problems as a result.
INDOT Spokeswoman Stacie McCormick says, “There's probably more traffic on Dupont as a result, but as we said last week, it's better to have some of those backups there than it is on I-69 just from a safety and precautionary standpoint. We are thinking of some other things that we might be able to do, but for the short term right now this is the best solution that we had."
Officials say they hope to finish construction on Dupont by the end of the season or early next spring.
