FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Fort Wayne Police had quite a mess on their hands on the city's southwest side just before 8 a.m. Friday.

A driver in a car was headed west on Nuttman. According to police, he blew through a stop sign, hit a pickup, sped on to Ardmore, hit a dump truck, a flat-bed and a Fed-Ex truck before crashing into a ditch.

The young man driving the car was seriously hurt but no other injuries were reported.

Investigators say they're conducting tests to see if alcohol or something else may have affected the driver's judgement.

Traffic was tied up in the area for a couple hours.
