HONG KONG (21Alive) -- A zoo in China is under fire after they replaced their more dangerous animals with tamer substitutes, but the signage never changed.
Imagine visitors' surprise as they walk up to the African Lion enclosure and find a barking Tibetan mastiff.
A visitor told the state-run Beijing Youth Daily that she was visiting the zoo in a park in Louhe, a city in the central province of Henan, with her son and saw a large hairy dog barking where an African lion was supposed to be.
CNN reports that other species in the park were also mislabeled, such as a dog in the wolf cage and a white fox on display in the leopard enclosure.
The head of the park's animal department told CNN that the animals had be replaced temporarily for multiple reasons. She said the lion and leopard had been removed for breeding and the dog was in the wolf cage to breed a hybrid wolf-dog.
