STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - A personal injury crash due to driving while intoxicated took place at an intersection off of CR 1000 E Saturday morning.
According to officials, when officers arrived at the scene, a 1994 Lincoln Town Car was located in the field on the west side of CR 1000 East. Logan D Norton, 30, was traveling west on CR L in Williams county. Logan failed to stop at the stop sign at CR L and CR 1000 East in Steuben County, and his vehicle went off the west side of the roadway at the intersection. Logan's vehicle then struck an earth embankment and a fence before coming to rest in a field.
The front seat passenger, Nathan D Norton, 34, sustained a broken hip, and facial injuries in the crash. Nathan was transported from the scene by a Samaritan helicopter to a local hospital.
Officials say Logan refused medical treatment at the scene and was taken to the Steuben County Sheriff's Office for further investigation. He later charged with driving while intoxicated. Logan was transported to a local hospital for a broken hand and facial injuries.
It appears neither Logan nor Nathan were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, according to sources.
