FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - 3rd District Congressional hopefuls are gearing up for their last weekend of campaigning before Tuesday, November 2 election.

Both Democrat Tom Hayhurst and Republican Marlin Stutzman held rallies Thursday.

According to the latest poll compiled by the Mike Downs Center For Indiana Politics, Republican Marlin Stutzman would receive 57% of votes.

Democrat Tom Hayhurst would receive 32% of votes.

Libertarian Scott Wise would receive 7% of votes.

Other candidates 2% of votes.

Undecided 2% of votes.

The poll questioned 400 likely voters or voters who have already voted.

The margin of error is +/- 5%.

"We feel very confident that we can win this knowing that we have a great group of supporters," said Republican Congressional Candidate State Senator Marlin Stutzman.

"I think that frankly that poll is totally bogus. Period," said Democratic Congressional Candidate Dr. Tom Hayhurst.

"Something like a quarter of the respondents in that poll were from one county on the other side of the congressional district. It looks to me like a very sloppy poll, doesn't really reflect the make up of the district at all," exclaimed Hayhurst.

Marlin Stutzman's outlook: "Polling is just a snap shot of where voters are at on a particular day. But I do thing what it is showing is that the negative campaigning is not one that is always going to work. People are looking for ideas. People are looking for solutions."

Meanwhile, Stutzman said he will spend his final campaign weekend going door-to-door and participating in more rallies.

"The only important poll is on November 2 and that's why we've got 1,000 folks working hard to get voters out on election day," said Hayhurst.
