FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Third District Congressman Marlin Stutzman held an open house Monday afternoon for constituents to come and share their opinions, concerns or praises about what is going on in Washington.
One person spoke up in support of the Affordable Care Act, something Stutzman does not support. Judith Steckly says with that, businesses can gain tax credits and individual government subsidies if they can't afford insurance, similar to the Paul Ryan budget, which is something Stutzman does support.
"This is the same thing the Paul Ryan budget does for Seniors. It takes the Medicare away, that we now have, and replaces it where all Seniors have to have health insurance," Steckly says. "From Medicare, what they call Premium Support, which is the same thing as Federal subsidies. I say the two are the same. Why would he support one and not the other?"
Stutzman responded by saying the two healthcare plans have similarities but he believes the Affordable Care Act is doing more bad than good.
