FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - We're now exactly two weeks from Thanksgiving and many needy residents in our area will need help for the holiday.

Indiana's NewsCenter and the Community Harvest Food Bank are working together to get the word out by hosting the annual Turkey Rally.

The food bank needs a variety of foods, like turkeys, hams, chickens and canned goods, and money to provide help to those who will need it this Thanksgiving.

A local marine donated two turkeys shortly after 6AM Thursday morning. Employees of BKD Accounting then donated around $7,000 from a fundraiser they held. Several other personal and corporate donations also came in throughout the day.

Indiana's NewsCenter has been a proud co-sponsor of the event for four years now, and would like to thank everyone who donated this year.

Last year's Turkey Rally raised 241 turkeys, 16 hams, 2,000 pounds of dry and frozen foods and nearly $8,000.

Early estimates indicate that while the need for these items has grown since last year, so have the donations! More than 430 turkeys were donated, more than $7,000, and much more in dry and frozen foods.

If you would like to donate, but were unable to make it out for Turkey Rally 2010, just visit Community Harvest Food Bank's website at www.chfb.org. You can also call 260-447-3696 or stop by their food bank at 999 E Tillman Road in Fort Wayne.
