Community 'Chalks It Up' For Domestic Violence Awareness (PHOTOS)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- YWCA of Northeast Indiana "Chalks It Up To Awareness" this week in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Every October, YWCA hosts a variety of events to increase community awareness on the issue of domestic violence. October 7-11 Chalk It Up, a community-wide campaign, encouraged community partners to spend the week creating awareness about domestic violence using sidewalk chalk, drawing images, facts and statistics about domestic violence.

YWCA Northeast Indiana staff Chalk It Up on Monday, IPFW hosts a Chalk It Up event Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., the University of St. Francis will hold an event Wednesday at noon and Whitley County Domestic Violence Task Force and Whitko H.S. will have their event Friday.

In addition, Strebig Construction had an event Saturday, Oct 5, and Catholic Charities will be Chalking It Up all week. Lincoln Financial Group will Chalk It Up Oct 22-24.
