HUNTINGTON, Ind (21Alive) -- In preparation for the estimated 8-14 inches of snow The City of Huntington is asking city residents to move cars, if possible, from city streets.
With the estimated amount of snowfall and the intensity it will come down (1-2" per hour) the city's main priority is to keep emergency routes open. Once the snows subsides the city will then focus its efforts on local roads and lastly alleys.
The substantial amount of snow that will need to be moved as well as the snow currently filling curb lines will cause problems if cars are parked on the roadside. This snow amount will leave cars buried, driveways blocked, and sidewalks covered. If there is a hydrant in front of your home we ask that you make sure it is accessible in case of emergency.
