FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – Citizens Square officially opened Monday evening.
City and county offices have been located there for weeks. Monday night's open house was delayed because of construction.
City and county officials welcomed residents to the new home of local government, a place packed with meaning.
Nol Beckley of Fort Wayne says, “The symbolism up there with the sixteen pillars, with Lincoln being the sixteen president, I thought that was very nice, a nice way to honor him. Apparently there use to be a statue of him there when it was Lincoln life. I don't know if I would call it opulent but it is very impressive and there is an awe factor. “
Guests took tours and learned about historic artifacts located on each floor.
