FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) --- The waiting is over.
The first tenants in a much-anticipated downtown living project have moved in and will be sleeping in their new homes starting Thursday.
The apartments in “The Harrison” are no longer just some concept on the drawing board.
At least three apartment units on the upper floors are now occupied.
The first moving truck arrived mid-morning Thursday, unloading stuff to get the first tenant situated.
Then after noon, crews wheeled in things for Tom and Lisa Wylie, who are renting a two-bedroom with a balcony view of Parkview Field.
The empty nesters wanted a downtown living experience, and in the process, they are becoming more popular.
" All these friends that I didn't think I had are showing up on my phone. And I'm anxious to see them all again, but yeah, all my buddies that I run around with are all anxious to view a game up here," said Tom Wylie.
The Wylies say they have wanted to try out living downtown for awhile.
Lisa Wylie works downtown and looks forward to being able to walk to work.
They signed a two-year lease, giving them the chance to, “dip their toe in the pond”, before possibly deciding to purchase a condo in the center of the city sometime in the future.
22 of 43 units are rented, and most of the residents are scheduled to move in Friday in the bitter cold.
