JEFFERSON, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Authorities confirmed Tuesday that the body of a missing Purdue University student had been found in a Northern Indiana lake.

Sean Matti, 22, of Shoreview, Minn., disappeared Sunday at Lake Freeman in Jefferson, Ind. Witnesses tell detectives Matti had been swimming that night. Carroll County investigators say they found his body Tuesday morning.

Matti was a fifth-year senior on the Purdue football team. He walked on as a running back in 2007, though never received playing time.

Purdue's athletic department released a statement mourning Matti.

"Purdue football is a family, and I am terribly saddened by the loss of one of our young men," Purdue head coach Danny Hope said in the statement. "He was a special young man whose positive spirit will be a part of our program forever."

Matti's Funeral arraignments have yet to be made.
