FORT WAYNE/ MARION, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Indiana's NewsCenter has confirmed that former Bishop Luers Basketball Coach James Blackmon tried to resign as Marion’s Head Basketball Coach Friday morning just two weeks after it was confirmed he was taking the job.

Blackmon told the Marion Schools Superintendent that he is not returning to the school where he was a star player in the 80's.

But the superintendent said he would not accept Blackmon's resignation and called him in for a meeting.

INC learned that the meeting between Blackmon and the Marion Superintendent went very well and that Blackmon was encouraged to take more time to think about his decision.

Blackmon hasn't signed a contract with Marion but If Blackmon walks away from the Marion coaching job, Indiana’s NewsCenter has learned there is a deal in place for him to return to Luers as the head basketball coach.
