FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control announced Sunday that necessary changes to the shelter's pet adoption hours will become effective Monday, July 8th.

Although the hours for pet adoptions will change to include closing the adoption center on Mondays, officials say they have every expectation that animals will remain in the building available for citizens to adopt Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays 12-5:30 p.m. and 12-7 p.m. on Wednesdays.

According to officials, at no time will the lives of animals saved through the shelter adoption program be affected by closing on Mondays. The shelter will continue to provide offsite adoptions and transfers of animals to partner rescue agencies.

With the aid of volunteers, the shelter will be able to schedule appointments for animals that were adopted on Fridays and Saturdays to be sent home on Mondays. Additionally, the shelter will extend the weekday adoption close time from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to aid in sending animals home with new owners.

Officials remind the public that a list of dates, times and locations for the Animal Care & Control Whisker Wag'n Mobile Adoption Center is posted on their website at www.fwacc.org. The mobile site allows for pet adoptions to take place on additional evening and weekend hours.
