ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Allen County's Director of Elections is reporting a sharp increase in the number of people choosing to vote early this mid-term election.
More than 50 people waited outside the Allen County Election Board Monday morning to cast ballots before a noon deadline for voting early in-office.
The tally of early votes at 1 pm was 11,437.
That represents a 39 percent increase over early voting for Allen County in 2006.
Early Voter Corinne Welklin says, “Optimistic that people are coming to vote, because we've been pretty lackadaisical about it."
Mailed ballots must be in the Allen County Election Board offices by noon Tuesday in order to count.
