HUNTINGTON, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A Huntington man is behind bars after a four hour standoff early Saturday morning.
It started Friday evening around 10:30 p.m. when police received a call from a neighbor who had two small children ages eight and ten who said their parents were drinking and fighting with each other. The children were concerned with their parent's welfare. According to police, it was reported that the mother had been hit by the father.
Police showed up at the Huntington home at 4497W-200N Lot 85. Police were not able to find the female victim and plans were arranged for the children to be picked up by their biological mother.
Police spoke to the male at home, William L. Bradley, 40, but without a victim present and no way to contact her police left.
At approximately 12:32 a.m. police received another call, but this time from the wife. She said her husband had just called her and indicated he had consumed a large amount of medication and had a knife and threatened violence to anyone who came to the house, including police.
Police returned to the home and attempted contact with Bradley but was unable to get him to come to the door or speak with them. Officers could see Bradley in the bedroom, lying on the bed with a knife. He also appeared semi conscious.
Police were able to get a two warrants for battery. One was for Battery in the Presence of a Child and the second was Battery on a Child.
At 4:34 a.m. police entered the home and took Bradley into custody. Nobody was injured in the arrest. Bradley is currently being held in the Huntington County Jail.
