STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (21Alive) -- A 29-year-old woman from Fremont was arrested this past Friday on a charge of battery with bodily injury involving a minor child following an investigation by the Indiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division from the Fort Wayne Post.
According to Detective Harry Nix, on June 5th of this year, he initiated a criminal investigation into allegations that Carolyn A. Bowdish had bitten a three year old girl on the leg as a form of punishment a few days prior.
The injury was noticed by an off-duty Indiana State Police Detective at a family gathering and after speaking with the victim’s father, the Detective contacted both his immediate supervisor and Child Protective Services. Sgt. Kathy Robbins and the Steuben County Division of Child Services assisted Nix in this investigation.
As a result of Nix's investigation, an arrest warrant was issued by the Steuben County Superior Court for Bowdish on the following charge:
• Battery Resulting in Bodily Injury (Victim less than 14 years of age by defendant at least 18 years of age), Class D Felony
Bowdish was taken to and incarcerated in the Steuben County Jail and was held on a $5,000 bond.
