FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - The grand opening of a new restaurant at Jefferson Pointe has been delayed due to permitting issues.
Tucanos Brazilian Grill's ribbon cutting was postponed Tuesday afternoon, and is now scheduled to happen Thursday.
Tucanos officials said in a statement Wednesday that the delays were "beyond their control and outside the scope of their responsibility."
As part of the scheduled Tuesday opening, Tucanos planned many festivities and a V.I.P. dinner.
With the delay, Tucanos decided to donate the food to the St. Mary's Soup Kitchen on Wednesday.
In all, Tucanos donated $5,000 worth of food to the soup kitchen, which has served those in need since 1974.
Tucanos Brazilian Grill plans to open Thursday at 5 p.m., and will be open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday & 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
